A Summer Programme of Learning and Action for Equitable Conditions in Culture

Monday 16th May - Friday 15th July 2022

FREELANCE : FUTURES was a call for collective learning and action to build equitable conditions for freelancers working in culture. Through free resources, workshops, panel discussions, self-organising spaces and virtual gathering (13 JUN – 17 JUN), we explored sector organising, freelancer rights and resources, organisational transformation and policy-making.

Over nine weeks, we invited you to take a journey…

FREELANCE : FUTURES was a 9-week programme for independent practitioners, cultural organisations, unions, funders and policymakers. It will take all of our efforts to effect real change, so we encouraged arts organisations to bring their eco-systems with them to engage, share, learn and mobilise.

To help progress this change, we created a dedicated F : F online community. Hundreds of freelancers from across the UK have already joined our Mighty Networks platform, where conversations have continued and connections have been made.

It’s free to join and we have paid for an annual subscription to ensure we have enough time to connect, communicate and create.

ACCESS

We sought to build a programme and a space that was as accessible as possible.

All sessions were free of charge, captioned and BSL interpreted.

The sessions were programmed at different time-slots, and took place across nine weeks, to enable more flexibility to engage in the programme alongside work, life and caring commitments.

All sessions were recorded where possible and will remain permanently available for future access, either as a captioned video, interpreted video or a summary of notes.
